Places to Visit Nifty people, and admonishments to check them out: Tart - first "grrl" band I met upon my arrival in Seattle. Super talented sisters, and their pals. Saeta - built around the core of Matt Menovcik's songwriting and Lesli Wood on piano, sometimes fills out with cello, trumpet, atmospheric guitar, drums, once in a great while even yours truly on backup vocals. Truly original stuff. Roslyn - as in Roslyn Records. Barbara Mitchell runs this show. She does it all. Nw Radio - online location to check out stuff by northwest artists. Neo - includes Charles Keller, who produced "Where the Words Go". They're still alive and kicking, thank the powers that be. Ms Led - one of the best all around rock bands in Seattle. Period. Check them out. Innocent Words - one of the hardest working independent label owners, ever. Based in Champaign, Illinois. KEXP - our local, listener powered, scene supporting powerhouse station of indie and alterna rawk. Hall of Justice - home of Chris Walla's recording studio, great mp3s, and tasty blog snippets. Explone - where it's still okay to simultaneously rock hard, have fun, and sing your heart out. Disclaimerband - a music maker and fan, Willie reviews cds with wit and charm. Dan Jones - I've known Dan since the first mini-tour I took several years ago. His songs, songwriting and guitar playing blew me away. Opposite is a picture of the infamous masterpiece 'Don't Fret', that lives in his yard. Cafe Venus - great food and one of the friendliest places in Seattle to play a show, any night of the week. Andrew Norsworthy - the hardest working touring man out there. Plus great songs, guitar chops. A guy who actually sings his songs. Ainjel Emme - originally from Austin, TX, now living in L.A. Great songwriter & producer, great guitarist, & gorgeous. A girl who knows her gear. |
